如前天的传闻所说，Google于今天正式发布了Friend Connect。简而言之，Friend Connect可以允许任意第三方网站具备社会化特性，从而吸引新用户。网站站长只需要给网站增加一小段Friend Connect代码，即可马上让网站拥有社会化特性，而无需复杂的编程。网站可以选择Friend Connect提供的集成功能比如用户注册、邀请、相册、信息发送、评论等，也可以选择由Google OpenSocial成员所开发的第三方应用特性。而普通用户访问了采用Friend Connect技术的网站时，即可马上浏览、邀请及与新好友及之前在其它社会化网站上的旧好友进行互动。
可见Friend Connect是Google试图成为社会化网络中心平台的一个最新尝试。越多网站采用Friend Connect，Google的社会化网络也就越庞大，它根本不需要单独壮大Orkut去与MySpace或Facebook竞争。
